Carlo Scarpa

In the heart of Piazza San Marco in Venice, architect Carlo Scarpa created between 1957 and 1958 one of his most refined masterpieces: the Olivetti Showroom. A place where architecture, design and Venetian craftsmanship merge in perfect harmony of light, proportions and materials.

For the floor of the space, Scarpa chose an innovative mosaic, made of glass tiles with shimmering tones, inspired by the keyboards of Olivetti typewriters.

These geometric, regular and luminous microstructures were made through collaboration with the Murano furnaces, including the Donà family, renowned for producing high-quality glass enamels and golds.

Today, Mosaici Donà Murano continues this tradition, supplying tiles for floors inspired by Carlo Scarpa’s style, where glass becomes both architectural language and poetic matter.

Each project can be customized in color, size and composition, preserving the Scarpian vision that combines formal rigor and luminous vibration.

Whether for a contemporary or historical setting, a Scarpa-style floor by Mosaici Donà Murano embodies the soul of Venice: the light of glass and the memory of Italian design.
